Blancpain History
Blancpain, a Swiss watch brand, has a long and storied history, dating back to its founding in 1735 by Jehan-Jacques Blancpain in Villeret, Switzerland. For generations, the company remained in the hands of the Blancpain family. However, it was sold to Jacques Piguet and Jean-Claude Biver in 1983. Today, Blancpain is renowned for its traditional and complicated timepieces, including several notable firsts in the industry, such as the world's smallest movement, the world's thinnest tourbillon, and the first modern diver's watch, the Fifty Fathoms.
Blancpain Design
Blancpain watches are designed with a focus on elegance, simplicity, and functionality. The brand's timepieces feature clean, uncluttered dials, understated cases, and high-quality materials. Blancpain is also known for its intricate and complicated watch movements, which often feature traditional haute horlogerie techniques like hand-engraving and guilloché.
Blancpain Company
Blancpain is now part of the Swatch Group, the largest watchmaking group in the world. The brand is based in Le Brassus, Switzerland, and all of its watches are still made in-house, with each watch taking several months to produce. Blancpain is also committed to environmental sustainability, with initiatives like reducing its carbon footprint and using renewable energy.
Blancpain Value
Blancpain is a luxury watch brand with prices that reflect its high-end positioning. Its timepieces are known for their craftsmanship, complexity, and exclusivity, and are favored by collectors and enthusiasts alike. Blancpain's watches can range from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars, with some models fetching even higher prices at auction.
