Hublot: Master of Special Editions

Let’s face it. There isn’t another brand in the watchmaking world which produces more special edition watches like Hublot. And with special editions we mean that Hublot produces a lot of watches which pay tribute to important events, sports, persons and a lot more subjects.

Let us give you 3 examples:

  • ‘The King Power Los Angeles’: Hublot made this limited edition 50-piece watch for the 16-time NBA Champions, the Los Angeles Lakers.
  • ‘The Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour’: Hublot made a timepiece which was limited to 200 pieces as a tribute to one of the biggest poker tournaments in the world.
  • ‘The Hublot King Power Usain Bolt’: The brand made a watch as a tribute to the fastest man on earth. As Jean-Claude Biver said: “Usain Bolt is not just the fastest man on the planet, it’s also the fastest person since the Big Bang”.

The (re)birth of the Big Bang

Since Hublot has built a new, modern, spacious factory in Nyon, near Geneva, the brand has evolved rapidly. The growth was so strong that Hublot even had to build a second factory, even bigger than the first. The first spade was put in the ground on March the 3th 2014 by Hublot chairman Jean-Claude Biver, who also supervises the LVMH watch division. Hublot has grown and is still growing thanks to a combination of innovative watchmaking and a very firm approach to marketing. Together with the current CEO Ricardo Guadalupe, Biver developed the idea of bringing together different and sometimes incompatible materials in one watch: carbon composite and gold, ceramics and steel, denim and diamonds. The Big Bang was born. And in 2015, the Big Bang concept, which pushed the brand to the top of the market, celebrated its tenth birthday.
